I use these when handling hot foods from the grill and on the flat top. The flat top gets really hot, and these gloves keep the heat away. The length keeps your arms from getting burnt by the heat. To clean them I just put them on put detergent on the gloves and wash them just like you would your hands. Would definitely buy them again.
