How can I add percussion to my live music without a drummer?

  • 0

I have the worst time with live drummers. For some reason it is just impossible to get someone to commit long term to a drumming position. All me and the band want to do is get out and play live music. But, when you can’t get the whole band together to play out, it becomes frustrating. Now I have decided to forgo the person factor all together, and do an acoustic set instead. The Meinl Percussion Analog Stomp Box has allowed me to keep some percussion in the mix without having an extra person!

This is great because it allows me and my vocalist to gig without having to worry about another individuals schedule or commitments. Before this, if the drummer couldn’t play a show, we couldn’t take it. Now we can just switch over to playing an acoustic set, or even book certain shows we normally would not have before. The build quality is beautiful and solid. You can stomp on it and throw it around and not have to worry. It does not require power, so its easy to throw in the gear bag and not have to think about it too much.

Overall the sound is great with this thing, and it almost sounds like an acoustic kick drum. All you really have to do is EQ out all of the highs and mids in your channel and boost the lows a bit. Then you are playing a song with kick drum and no drummer! It truly has changed the way we play and gig. It has increase our band revenue and we are on the road more now. I would highly recommend this if you are having a similar issue. It is very affordable and has payed for itself many times over by now just from sheer amount of shows played.
