My son loves butterflies and I bought him this kit for his second birthday. I was worried he would be too young for it but that was not the case. He was fascinated with the caterpillars and very gentle. It was so interesting watching them grow, and then magically turn into chrystalis’. I actually learned about the butterfly cycle myself (I didn’t know they weren’t cocoons for example) and it was really special checking on them one morning and seeing they had transformed into butterflies! We haven’t released them yet but plan to in the next couple days.
Ordering the caterpillars is easy and costs $11. They came the following week and all 6 were alive and healthy, and all 6 became butterflies.
The kit comes with everything you need including a simple recipe for butterfly nectar once they hatch. I was worried transferring the chrystalis’ to the cage was going to be gross but it was extremely easy. My son also LOVED the extra stickers in the kit and decorated his room with them. Great product! I will purchase again as gifts.
